- Forgive me if this has been mentioned -- but its (another) Compaq
- modem problem. I've got a 9240 Presario -- and the built-in 28.8 worked
- fine during the initial bootup/registration.
-
- After I configured it for Internet access, it would not dial -- in fact,
- it disabled the keypad on the attached telephone!! Even with power off,
- the telephone, if run thru the Compaq modem, will not dial.
-
- I installed a 2nd modem on Com3, and it works fine (Compaq modem is on
- Com2). The 2nd modem does not disable a telephone set keypad, and it
- dials fine. As far as I can tell, both modems are configured
- identically (except for Com port).
-
- BTW: someone suggested I turn off phone-minder, which I did -- still
- doesn't dial (not sure how this suggestion would've worked anyway, since
- the modem disables dialing even with power off).
-
- Any suggestions?? I tried email to Compaq support - the message
- bounced, and I got the address from the Compaq website!!
